Rey Mysterio Masks
The Rey Mysterio mask is a pretty neat part of WWE tradition. For “flyer” wrestlers like Rey Mysterio, the lucha libre tradition of high flying small guy wrestling is alive and well in the WWE (which has traditionally been ruled by the big, brawny bruiser types). While Rey Mysterio might only be 175 pounds (not especially large by professional wrestling standards), he is still something of a giant in the ring. And Rey Mysterio masks are his trademark – after all, the fans love a man of mystery, whose identity matters less than the fact that his skills, agility and endurance can win the day.
Rey Mysterio masks let us all make believe that we’re the David to all of these giant Goliaths. Using Rey Mysterio masks, we can lose our own identity, and become a champion for “the little guy” who usually gets picked on and pushed around in life. And while that might be going a little bit deeper than the entertainment aspect of World Wrestling Entertainment, it is a pretty sensible little allegory. And speaking of little, there is a great use for Rey Mysterio masks that may seem obvious, but deserves a mention: an entire Rey Mysterio costume.

In your daily life, Rey Mysterio masks might look just a tad bit out of place. Unless you’re a bank robber or just like to be a trifle on the creepy side, Rey Mysterio masks are only appropriate in some very select environments. After all, Rey Mysterio is not Don Juan de Marco – he does not wear his mask all of the time. This is just for wrestling purposes. Only a truly disturbed individual would wear a wrestling mask all the time – showering with it on would just be several different shades of gross and weird. And it could really impact shaving – but fortunately, kids don’t shave!
This Rey Mysterio costume, complete with Rey Mysterio mask, features a whole lot of wrestling goodness.
